Classifieds FAQs
How do I buy an item?
You need to contact the seller of the ad to arrange for purchase of their item. Click on the "send message to seller" link on the ad to do so. You are required to login or register if you do not have a MBAmarket.com account. Registration is necessary to communicate with seller on this site.

How do I sell and item?
You must be registered to sell items on MBAmarket.com. To register for a MBAmarket.com account, click on the "Register" button found on the right sidebar. Registration is fast, easy and your information is secure. Once you have registered, click on the 'place an ad' link on the menu bar located at the top of the classifieds page. Follow the directions shown on each page to enter your ad information.

How do I contact the seller?
To purchase an item or ask the seller a question, you click on the "send message to seller" link on the ad display page. If you are not logged in or registered, you will need to do this first before you can contact the seller. After doing so, fill out the form and submit the email. The MBAmarket.com email system will send your inquiry to the seller.

How do I post an ad?
Just click on the 'place an ad" link on the main menu bar at the top of the classifieds page to place a classified ad. Most of the classified ads are free, but some require a minimal fee. For fee information, please click here.

How much does it cost to place an ad?
MBAmarket.com strives to offer as many services as possible to members for free. However, in order to support the site, we must charge a minimal fee for some categories of classified ads. For fee information, please click here.

What forms of payment do you accept?
MBAmarket.com currently accepts payments through PayPal. All credit card transactions are secured through PayPal’s state-of-the-art encryption, so your data is not available to anyone. For more information regarding PayPal’s services, please visit www.paypal.com.

How do I upload a picture?
For some users, this can be confusing. You can post a picture with your ad if you wish to. A picture can add substance to your classified ad and make it sell faster. When you reach the picture upload page, click on the 'Browse' button to search for your picture on your local hard drive. A window will pop up and most of the time will be in your 'My Documents' folder on your computer. Navigate to your picture and double click on it. This will place the file path in the upload box. Click on the "Submit Images" button to complete the process. You can currently add 1 image for each of your ads.

How do I renew an ad?
Classifieds ads run 30 days and can be renewed indefinitely. A few days before the ad expires, you will get a notice. You can login to your account at any time and renew your ads. After logging in, click on the "my active ads" link in your account area. A list of your current ads will appear. To renew any ad, click on the 'renew' link and follow the instructions.

How do I edit an ad?
The process to edit an ad is similar to the Renew Ad process. After clicking on the "my active ads", click on the "edit" link to edit the ad information.

How do I change my information?
Log into your account and click on the "my info" link. On the next page, click on the "edit your information" link to change any of your information, including account password.

How do I hide my email address?
After logging into your account, click on the "email preferences" link. The next page will allow you to show your email to other members or communicate privately with them.

Classifieds FAQs
How do I post a topic in a forum?
Posting a topic is very easy. Simply click on the forum you wish to post your topic and click on the new topic button. After entering your information, press the "Submit" button. Please remember that you will need to be a registered member of the MBAmarket.com community and be logged in order to post a topic.

How do I edit or delete a post?
Unless you are the board administrator or forum moderator you can only edit or delete your own posts. You can edit your posts by clicking the edit button for the post you wish to edit. If someone has already replied to the post, you will find a small piece of text output below the post when you return to the topic that lists the number of times you edited it. This will only appear if no one has replied; it also will not appear if moderators or administrators edit the post (they will leave a message saying what they altered and why). Please note that normal users cannot delete a post once someone has replied.

How do I create a poll?
Creating a poll is easy. When you post a new topic (or edit the first post of a topic, if you have permission) you should see an "Add Poll" form below the main posting box. Complete the information for the poll and click the "Submit" button. There will be a limit to the number of options you can list, which is set by the board administrator

How do I edit or delete a poll?
As with posts, polls can only be edited by the original poster, a moderator, or board administrator. To edit a poll, click the first post in the topic, which always has the poll associated with it. If no one has cast a vote, then users can delete the poll or edit any poll option. However, if people have already placed votes only moderators or administrators can edit or delete it. This feature is designed to prevent people rigging polls by changing options mid-way through a poll.

How do I change my settings?
All your settings (if you are registered) are stored in the database. To alter them click the "preferences" link at the top of the forum. This will allow you to change all your settings.

How come the times are incorrect?
The times are almost certainly correct. However, what you may be seeing are times displayed in a time zone different from the one you are in. If this is the case, you should change your profile setting for the time zone to match your particular area, e.g. London, Paris, New York, Sydney, etc. Please note that changing the time zone, like most settings, can only be done by registered users.

How come I can't find my language in the list of languages?
Unfortunately, MBAmarket.com currently only supports English as the primary language for all functionality. MBAmarket.com recognizes the need for multiple languages and is currently evaluating how best to implement them.

How do I show an image below my username?
Due to current space limitations, we do not allow you to create an avatar or post an image for your account.

What are Smileys?
Smileys, or Emoticons, are small graphical images which can be used to express some feeling using a short code, e.g. :) means happy, :( means sad. The full list of emoticons can be seen via the posting form. Try not to overuse smileys, though, as they can quickly render a post unreadable and a moderator may decide to edit them out or remove the post altogether.

What are Announcements?
Announcements often contain important information and you should read them as soon as possible. Announcements appear at the top of every page in the forum to which they are posted.

What are Sticky topics?
Sticky topics appear below any announcements in a forum and only on the first page. They are often quite important so you should read them where possible. As with announcements the board administrator determines what permissions are required to post sticky topics in each forum.

What are Locked topics?
Locked topics are set this way by either the forum moderator or board administrator. You cannot reply to locked topics and any poll contained inside is automatically ended. Topics may be locked for many reasons.

Chat Room FAQs
What IRC commands are available in the Chat Room?
There are several command-line options that users and moderators can use for advanced functionality. These options do not exist in the Chat Room interface, but they are available to you by typing them directly into the message input box. These commands are "IRC-like" since they begin with the backslash. The following table summaries these options:

How frequently does Chat Room check the server for new messages?
The Chat Room checks the server for new messages every 3 seconds. However, MBAmarket.com reserves the right to change this setting if the bandwidth requirements are causing performance issues for the Chat Room users.

How do I send a private message?
There are two ways to send a private message in the MBAmarket.com Chat Room. You can either find the user's name in the room manager and click on the name, or you can type "/username:" in the chat input box, followed by your message. The recipient will be alerted of the private message, regardless of the room that they are in. If you send a private message by clicking on a user's name in the room list, then a small private message window will be opened, which you can keep open indefinitely. This is useful is you want to send multiple private messages to one person, or if you want to engage in several private chats simultaneously.

How do I insert text in bold or italic print?
Users can use bold or italic print by pressing on the bold (B) and italic (I) buttons above the send window.

How do I use smileys?
You may send a smiley in one of two ways: select the smiley from the list of
available smileys, or type the smiley code into the chat input area. For example, :red: is the code to display the blushing-face smiley.

What is the sound "Pan" feature?
This option allows you to set the amount of sound coming from the right and
left speakers on your computer system.

How do I logout of the chat?
The best way to logout is to click on the "X" in the upper right corner of the screen. However, if you simply close your web browser, then you will also be logged out after a period of time. The system will "time-out" after some interval, which is specified by the administrator. Thus, users who close their web browsers to logout will still be visible to logged-in users for a short period of time. However, clicking on "X" immediately logs you out of the system.

Blog Zone FAQs
How do I add my blog?
You can add your blog to the Blog Zone by logging in and then clicking on the "add/modify my blog" link. Verify your identity and then complete the blog information form. Finally, press the submit button and your blog will appear shortly on the Blog Zone.

How do I edit my blog?
You can edit your blog by logging in and then clicking the "add/modify my blog" link in the Blog Zone. Simply edit your information and press the "Submit" button.

How do I remove my blog?
To remove your blog, press on the "add/modify my blog" link in the Blog Zone after logging in. Next, set the "Post Blog on MBAmarket.com" field to "N". Finally, press the "Submit" button to remove your blog from the listings.

How do I reactivate my blog?
To reactivate your blog, press on the "add/modify my blog" link in the Blog Zone after logging in. Next, set the "Post Blog on MBAmarket.com" field to "Y". Finally, press the "Submit" button to reactivate your blog on the listings.

How come I can't find my school in the listed blogs?
MBAmarket.com lists accredited business schools in their university listings. If your school is accredited and not listed on MBAmarket.com, please contact us at administrator@mbamarket.com.
